Cops are starting to use Facebook to catch people who have done underage drinking.

This is scarry. There should be legislation that prevents government agencies from tracking without a warrant.

On the other hand, if one freely admits to a crime ... may the cretin pay the price for being so stupid.

These guys should have made the prosecutors prove conclusively that the photo was not edited and is indeed the defendant. It seems wrong to me that you get charged for a crime based on a photo that someone else posted.

And I agree with Bauer -- don't the police has something more pressing to be investigating. Underage drinking. What is next? Installing cameras on every street to capture jaywalkers. C'mon!

This is ridiculous! Everyone drinks while they're underage, my bet is that the cops doing the investigation drank while they were underage too.

This is a pure waste of taxpayer money by tying up the enforcement and judicial system with junk...it's not like we have a shortage of real crimes to fight out there...

There is already a general distrust of the law among college youths. This will only reinforce the need to be distrustful of the law, which is NOT something we should be working towards. Police are necessary but they cannot do their job if they are alienated from those they are meant to protect. These kids are not criminals, yet if they are charged with even a misdemeanor, it can greatly hurt them in the long run when they apply for graduate school and/or jobs. It makes sense that youths are at odds with policemen, an the policemen are simply doing their jobs at enforcing a bad law. The drinking age needs to be lowered. It isn't stopping anyone from drinking, all it's doing is creating criminal records for non-criminals.
